Medieval Village Paper Models

Although this papercraft medieval village called "Inglemere" was created for use in RPG gaming, I can see it also being used during the holiday season as a Christmas village.  I really like the bold graphics! Except for the well, all of the components were designed by DeviantART member MadunTwoSwords. The printable templates for the village may be downloaded here. The collection of buildings includes a well, a bridge, a cottage, a tall house, a tower, a barn, fences, coniferous trees, deciduous trees, and even some forest critters.

Star Wars Papercraft: Captain Phasma Helmet

Captain Phasma is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so I was happy to find this paper model of her helmet. The model comes in two sizes: life size and a scaled down version. The PDF templates for the helmet may be downloaded here. Captain Phasma is played by actress Gwendoline Christie who also stars in HBO's Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth.

Disney's Frozen Origami: Olaf

Origami designer Michelle Fung calls this pattern "Happy Snowman", but we all know who it really is: Olaf from Disney's Frozen! ^^ Olaf was folded by Michelle from one uncut square of 20 inch kami paper, blue on one side and white on the other. The crease pattern for this origami is available on Michelle's website.

Here's a collection of cute miniature papercraft buildings from Markus at Digitprop. Markus describes the collection as:
"...models of buildings, vehicles and infrastructure that are at a small scale, so that a whole city will fit on your desk. I kept the models as simple as possible, most being simple blocks, so that despite their scale, they are easy to build."
The models shown in the photo are the first set in an ongoing series of paper buildings.

Plants vs Zombies Papercraft

The Paper vs Zombies blog hasn't posted any new Plants vs Zombies paper models since 2014. However, as of today's date, downloads of all their papercraft templates are still available. The models aren't easy to build, but if you are skilled enough to pull them off, the results are fabulous. Each of the paper video game characters was created from scratch using 3DS Max, Pepakura Designer, and Photoshop. If you are interested in building any of the models in this collection, download them now! You never know when they will be gone for good.

Papercraft Rabbit for Easter

Faceted papercraft animals seem to be all the rage for home decoration these days. This free polygonal bunny paper model was created specifically to be used as an Easter decoration. Anastasia Baron, the creator of the bunny, likens his pose to the famous hare drawing by Albrecht-Dürer. The finished model is hollow underneath and may be used as a hiding place for eggs and candy. The template for the bunny may be downloaded by clicking the black circle near the bottom of the page here.

Lego Thor Papercraft

This paper model of Marvel Comic's Thor is not much larger than the Lego Thor on which the model is based. Amazingly, the paper version is just as pose-able as a real Lego character. Due to the size of the model, extensive use of tweezers was required in its construction. Thor and many other papercraft Lego Avengers maybe downloaded from Yobee's Papercaft.

In 2010 this cute Trojan horse paper toy was released as a promotional item to advertise the Nintendo DS video game, Glory of Heracles.  The cool thing about the toy is it has an actual secret compartment built into the side. Brian Castleforte, founder of Nice Paper Toys, is the designer of the piece. A PDF template for the horse is still available for download at Nintendo Papercraft.

Disney Princess Leia Papercraft

After Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, there was a lot of jokes about whether Princess Leia would become an official Disney Princess or not.  As it turns out, Leia was designated a "Disney Heroine" instead. Be that as it may, those who have built the official papercraft Disney princesses can now add Leia to their collection. This unofficial papercraft Princess Leia was designed by Kelly Delanty who also created several of the official papercraft princesses for Disney, so the model is pretty much guaranteed to match the official collection. Paper Pino has created a papercaft Faberge egg for Easter! The template for the egg uses the same construction technique that Pino makes use of in his papercraft terrestrial and celestial spheres. Comic book artist and author David Peterson has added three more characters to his collection of Mouse Guard papercraft! New to the set are are Kenzie, Saxon, and Celanawe (the three rightmost mice in the photo). Previously released were Lieam and Sadie. Free PDF templates for all five mice may be downloaded here. It is a very cool thing when comic book artists produce papercraft of their own characters!

Origami Crown

I thought this origami crown was a great idea. It is a simple, glue-less way to make royal headgear for those play times when your child wants to play-act being a prince or princess. The size of the finished crown depends on the size of the square of paper used. A 26" x 26" (67 cm x 67 cm) square of paper produces a crown with a diameter of 7.87" (20 cm). Back when Christopher Reeve was playing Superman in the movies, the Spanish language magazine, Super POP, published this Superman jumping jack toy. You gotta love that old school DC Comics art! A scan of the paper toy may be found here. From 1978 to 1987, Christopher Reeve starred in four consecutive Superman films.

Chibi Princess Bubblegum Papercraft

This chibi-style Princess Bubblegum papercraft was created by DeviantART member, ELJOEYDESIGNS. Of all the Adventure Time princesses, PB is Finn the Human's strongest love interest. Having been formed from a mass of mutated bubblegum just after the Mushroom War, Princess Bubblegum is nearly a thousand years old. Doesn't look it, does she? ASIMO is a real life robot designed by Honda. ASIMO stands for "Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility" and true to his name, he can walk. To promote knowledge of the robot to children, Honda offers a paper model download of ASIMO. The model is available in four different color schemes. The gray version is pictured here. ASIMO was introduced by Honda in October 2000.

The digital models in certain video games lend themselves really well to the creation of paper model templates. Such is the case with the Zoo Tycoon video game. These papercraft zebras are based on 3D models from the game. Printable JPG templates for the zebras may be downloaded from the DeviantART page of DrWheelieMobile. Zoo Tycoon was first released in 2001, with the most current version of the game to date being released in 2013.

1968 Shelby Mustang Paper Model

This papercraft car is a 1968 Mustang Shelby GT500KR fastback. The Shelby Mustangs of the 60's were a high performance variant of the Ford Mustang built by American automotive designer Carroll Shelby. The paper model was designed by Papercruiser.com as a promotional item for a Ford parts dealer. The free PDF template for the model may be downloaded here.
